This board is for laser engraving and cutting — permanent marks on wood, acrylic, leather, coated metal, and more. Material settings, batch personalization, and machine care all belong here.
Starter guidance:
- Settings are per-material and per-machine. Power, speed, and passes change with the material AND your laser's wattage. Build a settings library as you go — a scrap-test chip for each new material saves ruined blanks.
- Focus is everything. An out-of-focus laser gives you a weak, fuzzy mark. Set your focus distance every time you change material thickness.
- Ventilation and safety aren't optional. Some materials (anything with PVC/vinyl) release harmful fumes — never cut them. Know your material before it hits the bed.
- Batch personalization is your superpower. Names, numbers, and dates across a run of tumblers or tags are where the laser earns its keep. Set up the file to index cleanly.
How to ask a good question: name the material, your laser (type + wattage), and your power/speed/passes. A photo of the engrave — too light, charred, incomplete cut — right on the thread lets us dial your settings with you instead of guessing.
